Maja Ferme, born on the 5th of May 1977 in Slovenj Gradec, expressed an interest in clothes and aesthetics related to them, ever since she was a little child. She first expanded her personal interest in a private College of Drawing and Painting in Ljubljana and later continued her studies at the Faculty of Natural Science and Engineering in Ljubljana, course design of textile and clothes.

At the very beginning the influence of Maja’s artistic expression could be observed, which is developed in parallel with a sense of design and creation of new forms. Her early artistic creations are a tribute to and discovery of the late 19th century art. Maja proves her artistic talent with a successful presentation in the EX TEMPORE International Art Biennial where her “organic, abstract forms with sensible colour transpositions” win the sympathies of the audience and critics. This is also the beginning of her artistic creation and a base of her first collection from 1999 “Back to the Nature”. Elements from nature are constantly present in Maja’s creations as well as her, by now already traditional, colour interlocks in a form of a pattern, printed on fabrics, or sewn and embroidered on materials.

In her first collections, Maja still experiments and discovers the form that is why also her clothes are monochromatic. The black and white world/Manichean soul is her second collection, which establishes her as an artist, since all the clothes are hand painted, hand sewn and perfected.

At the end of her studies, she begins to develop and to continue the work she started as a student of the College of Drawing and Painting. The development of the pattern, which shall permanently define and follow her successful path is realised in a first “ready to wear” collection “Asphalt Jungle”, which is a colourful, positive and youthful collection. She continues with her work, becomes more and more known and appreciated in the circle of her loyal customers and clients, and at the same time becomes a reference point for advices and realisation of the top stage image of the domestic stars.

In 2003, she presents a wide collection of jewellery “Butterfly”, which is a tribute to “the wonderful being of nature” and is commercially very successful; sales channels are expanding in the capital city, in Maribor and in Celje.

In 2004, she prepares a high fashion collection “2 elements”, by which she indicates her orientation in designing towards quality, extremely perfected unique clothes. In 2005, she presents a collection “Grupta”, which is sold in the Fashion Gallery, a society of the high fashion designers, where Maja is one of the co-founders.

In September 2005 she goes to NYC to a designers company Anna Sui, where she gains valuable experience and she uses the necessary knowledge the very next year in presentation of the pre-collection “Water”. The successful presentation inspires her to present herself individually, as a first woman in Slovenia, with a collection for PP 2007 “Nymph” on an individual fashion show in New York, in fall 2006.

All Maja’s collections are defined by a unique printing and hand works; each peace is made thoughtfully and from the best natural materials; several days worth of perfecting result in unique pieces, made in small series.
